Getting the Christmas Tree! Although we didn't get to cut it down, a trip to Home Depot was the next best thing. After high hopes of bundling up to begin our Christmas decoration we found out you have to write in for a permit, you wait for a response including the date you can go out to get the tree. Well maybe another year... After we bascially shoved the tree into the car we headed next door to have a familiar christmas drink at starbucks. Josh with his eggnog latte and what would have been a peppermint mocha for me, but they ran out of peppermint. Turns out the rest of Parker thought a fun coffee would be a good idea after getting their Christimas tree as well. The day was a blast none the less, especially because the weather had just turned cold the day before giving us the longest snow blanket I have seen in Parker. Usually it snows and it melts within a day or two. But no...as of today it has stayed 6 days! I love the snow. Right now I am loving coming home to the smell of pine.

A Surprise Visit. Josh's high school buddy Jon Hunnel called one evening, and low and behold he and his new wife were only 45mins away! They were traveling from OK where the bride Matina, lived, on their way to Portland. It was great to see some of thier wedding pictures, especially since we were not able to attend with adjusting to new jobs. Hearing the same stories from a new point of view was entertaining and Matina and I just smiled and listened as the guys hacked through past experiences. For me it was great to spend time with them, especially when Wendy (Josh's mom) talks about Jon like a second son. We loved the suprise visit, even if it was quick...so if anyone is ever traveling on 70 cross country, swing South onto E470 and say hi!

A Glance at November

Catching up Well It has been awhile! To be honest, I could not locate the cord needed for the digital camera to connect to the laptop, so no new posts. So what have we been up to? Thanksgiving We woke up and watched the parade then headed to the Wohrley's for a feast of sorts. Later in the day the guys tried to pull down a large branch that was wedged in a tree close to the house left over from the ice storm we had awhile ago. It was quite funny to watch, although you cant hear it in the small recording, after pulling for a bit there was a huge "snap!" Making everyone jump. They never got the branch down, but boy was it fun to watch. To warm up afterwards we shared coffee cake and the Starbucks Christmas blend! A first of the season. Posted by Picasa

November 30th

Emily's Cooking Adventures Continue! Yesterday we celebrated Josh's birthday. As some of you know I am a FABULOUS cook. Really, it is quite the opposite, and yesterday was an all time low seeing that I screwed up a cake box mix. Yes, it is true. My plans of making Josh an icecream cake held so much potential. I had gathered all the basics and even got a tub of icecream from Coldstone with the mix-ins he likes. The Recipe called for 2 9" round cakes with icecream layerd in the middled and on top. Naturally, I picked up 2 cake mixes. At $0.88 a box I thought I would surely need 2 boxes. When I got home and started mixing, things were going well, even when I combined the two into one, and I stuck them in the oven for 30min. Beeper went off and low and behold as went to check on the cakes I found a pile of cake on the bottom of the oven. Both pans had become small volcanos! After a few screams with only me in the house I called my Mom's cell. No answer. Next, Jes Johnson, she had always been my savior when I didn't know what to do in the kitchen. No answer. I began scooping the extra cake out of the bottom, but smoke was filling the air. Only a few minutes later Jes called and tried to coach me through it! I found out later 1 box = 2 9'cakes!! Opps!

Guest Travelers 11.29.05

As Ron and Audriene traveled cross country to their new home in WI they were abel to stay in the night in Parker! With bad weather in Northern CO and WY, I-80 was closed, delaying their trip, but allowing time for a quick dinner at Texas Roadhouse. We had great food and a wonderful time hearing their traveling stories. Posted by Picasa
